Being Green

Here at the Royal Hotel in Cromarty we know how important it is to do our part to be environmentally and socially concious and we have made it a priority to change and adapt as much as possible to reflect this.

Since taking over in 2010 these are some of the changes we have made to become a greener business;

In 2011 we installed new and improved roofing and insulation to reduce heat loss.

In 2012 we also replaced all our bedroom windows with double glazing.

In 2015 we changed our heating system to a bio-mass boiler from company...

At the end of 2017 we were one of the first restaurant/bars to completely get rid of the plastic straws, opting instead for biodegradable paper straws. We were praised in local and Scottish media for the move.

All of our lighting has been replaced with LED's and all our electrical equipment is the highest environmental rating.

In the past year, we have further improved by moving to exclusively glass bottles and cans, getting rid of plastic bottles entirely.

Our menu is seasonal and we use locally sourced produce as much as possible, including our beef from the owners own family farm.

We are also passionate about being socially aware. All of our matresses and many of our bed frames were purchased from local social enterprise.....
